In celebration of the Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, with the theme, Creating Convergence on Climate Change last November 19 to 25, 2011, the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) arranged a tree planting activity for graduating students, together with the faculty and staff. Narra seedlings, donated by CENRO, Muñoz, were planted along the fences at the third gate. The plant was chosen because studies show that narra is a carbon sequester. This is the graduates’ legacy to CLSU and their contribution to beating climate change.
Some students of BS Biology, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Education also joined the celebration by planting Sansevieria trifasciata, locally known as espa-espada. In addition for its high aesthetic value, this plant is also popular for its being a phytoremediator. To complete the observance, the no-smoking time from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning was advocated to all CLSU constituents.
